International Nutrition Survey 2009
International Survey 2009
Improving the Practice of Nutrition Therapy in the Critically Ill: An International Quality Improvement Project
This year's International Nutrition Survey began in September, and over the past few months we have been working hard to generate site reports and determine this year's Best of the Best!
With over 152 sites participating this year from over 18 countries, this year's survey was quite the success! The next International Nutrition Survey is planned for early 2011, so if you missed out this year, we'd love to have you participate in the future!
Data from the 2009 survey was presented at the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) Clinical Nutrition Week held in Las Vegas, NV, on February 9-12, 2010. The sessions pertaining to the survey at Clinical Nutrition Week were a resounding success, with over two thousand people in attendance, and 6 out of the top 10 performing sites present to accept their awards.
Out of over 152 participating sites, 98 sites finalized a minimum of 20 patients and were eligible for consideration for the Best of the Best Award. Please click here to see a list of this year's winners. Congratulations to each of the Best of the Best Award winners for 2009!
If you participated in this year's survey, you may wish to use this poster to help increase awareness in your ICU of your strengths and weaknesses.

. We encourage all ICUs to promote participation in this exciting project. Increase awareness in your ICU of best nutrition practices and engage your ICU team members. There are example posters that can be found here that you can use to promote the concept. Set your sights high and help to be the ‘Best of the Best’!
As you may be aware, our Critical Care Nutrition group has been very active in conducting research in this area. In 2010, we will be looking for participants in a variety of research projects that will be designed to illuminate the barriers to providing adequate nutrition as well implement strategies that will improve the quantity of nutrition provided. We would like to invite you to consider partnering with us to improve the amount of nutrition you provide to your ICU patients by participating with us in this exciting research program.
