Dr Daren Heyland is a Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario Canada. He is trained in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Clinical Epidemiology. He works as a staff physician in the ICU at the Kingston General Hospital and is the Director of Research for the Critical Care Programme. In addition, he is the Director of the Clinical Evaluation Research Unit at the Kingston General Hospital. He has obtained close to $20 million in grants from various peer-reviewed and Industry sources. He has a variety of research interests including end of life care, sepsis, and the interaction between the gastrointestinal tract, infection and nutrition in critical illness.
